Comprehension Questions About ANZAC

This activity was answering some questions about the text we just read and testing our comprehension.

ANZAC Vocab

Letter to Sarah

 Dear Sarah

In the trenches it’s pretty miserable I can see the dead bodies of all my comrades. I know it’s been a chore trying to take care of our baby but I promise you I’ll come back. This war is probably going to take every ounce of my soul to get through it but hopefully I’ll be fine.  This war wasn’t what I was expecting but I signed up for it.

Sincerely your loving husband

Michael

(For this activity we had to go into the perspective of the soldiers and write a letter to someone as if we were real soldiers)

To Ellahs Grandfather (ANZAC Fictional Story Task)

 To Ellahs Grandfather

I would like to thank you for your courageous actions in the first world war. You have allowed me and so many others to prosper and grow as people and we wouldn’t have that opportunity if it wasn’t for you and all the brave soldiers. I would like to ask some questions for you if you wouldn’t mind

  • What was it like in bootcamp?

  • How nervous were you in the war?

  • If there’s any advice you could give to us today what would it be?

  • If you could change one thing about what you did in the war what would it be?

Sincerely

Militina

(This task was for the ANZAC Button slides we had to do after we read the story and it was to write a letter asking some questions to Ellahs Grandfather)
